School Subjects

Alongside the main curriculum at the school for every age group, we offer the following subjects as part of our school curriculum, in order to enhance learning and knowledge in all aspects for all the children at the school.

Physical Education (P.E.)

Gym and movement classes are conducted in the school gym. Each class benefits not only from daily outdoor recess time, but also a formal gym class once a week. This is used to help the children coordinate their fine- and gross-motor skills.

  • Basic exercises include running, skipping, jumping, ball-throwing and catching, and team sports such as relay racing and handball.
  • We make available a wide variety of equipment during the gym period such as different-sized balls, hoops, beanbags, jump ropes, etc. Starting in the Pre-Nursery class, the children also take swimming lessons with a qualified instructor at the local pool.

Religious Education

Under the Education Act 1996 schools must provide religious education for all registered pupils, although parents can choose to withdraw their children. Schools, other than voluntary aided schools and those of a religious character, must teach religious education according to the locally agreed syllabus. Each agreed syllabus should reflect the fact that the religious traditions in Great Britain/ Spain are in the main Christian, while taking account of the teachings and practices of the other principal religions represented worldwide.
Religious education makes a distinctive contribution to the school curriculum by developing pupils' knowledge and understanding of religion, religious beliefs, practices, language and traditions and their influence on individuals, communities, societies and cultures.

Personal, social and health education and citizenship

Within the personal aspect of PSHE, children will learn to address their feelings, attitudes and values. We aim to promote pupils' self esteem and encourage them to make well informed decisions. The social aspect will relate to the context in which they live - their peers, family and community.
